Since I was a senior rover in 2006, I attended a workshop of Scouting Asia Pacific may already be a annually activity that i have to manage a
time for it, although it was held in Indonesia. But this time is a special
workshop for me. Why? in the middle of preparing a large event that is held every
two year, Dhanapala scout troop still have time sending members abroad to
participate in the event.
Since
the first time I attended in the year 2010, the APR environmental workshop has
changed my mindset about the role of a Scout in protecting the environment. Im
horrified! That's all impression I got when I have too accept the fact
that the earth is old and sickly substance. Sad! I now know that humans as
rational beings who live in it apparently has not been much to take care with
it. So what about the Boy Scouts? In this workshop we peel of thoroughly the
role of a Scout in preserving the environment in a scheme "World Scout
Environment Programme" or the common word is "World Scout Environment
Programme (WSEP)".
Friday,
May 31, 2013, before the departure to Soekarno-Hatta airport, our brother had
the first day of second level scout had “Releasing ceremony”. This is a
traditional ceremony that was held only for those who follow the national and
international activities. Hasan Basri as a scout leader of the troop handed
over to him Dhanapala scout troop flag. Wira’s friends in White Shark, White
Lily, Eagles, and Melati team come off to say words of so long to him to tell
all hope to make Dhanapala scout troop glory.Ikra Wiratama Hendra |
19:30, after the isya prayer we were off to Soekarno Hatta airport with Mr. Ihsan and Mrs. Erna (Wira’s parent) car. Wira is the only child but his parent greatly don’t hesitate to sent their son to join positive activities aboard. It also because Wira is a baseball, and swimming athlete, he often left his parent to go competition abroad.
Of course, as a Pony Baseball Bronco Indonesia team (World baseball organisation of U-12 league) Wira often have to strengthen Indonesia team to compete on the tournament. I can only shake my head because before scouting activities Wira will have to go straight from Senayan sport center to the scout activities. He have to attend baseball practice to get ready for a tournament in philippines (2013 Pony Baseball/Softball Asia-Pacific Zone Bronco Championship in Manila, July 14 -18 2013.
Back to the story of this journey ... We arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport at about 9 pm. Hmmm ... There are still 2 hours more to take care of all your needs in this airport. Do not forget the pride Scout troop hat and scout scarf as an identity we use in order to arrive in Taiwan later.
Wira and Kak Fuad |
At a time check-in counter ... 31,2 kg.! !! Well, that is weight of luggage Wira brought. Please understand little ... the Luggage contains all
' weaponry ' that will be required in Taiwan, Includes the posters, leaflets, a
journal media, souvenirs, and especially 5 copies of the ‘thesis’ owned by Wira
that titled "LEAD CONTAMINATION IN THE RIVER INFRASTRUCTURE
IN INDONESIA".
“sir, are you a scout?” asked by an officer in the check-in counter
“yes mam, i am his scout leader”
“your scout suitcase is too heavy kak, so we have to give a fine”
said the check-in officer that change her greeting to kak (greeting that
used to call other older scout)
“FINEEE??!” i said inside my heart with a hyperbolic shocked emotion
“what does he bring ? so there scout activities in Taiwan?” asked by that
officer again
Because the question of the officer, I have to answer it honestly
about all the exhibition material and everything. Is not funny if i have to go
out change the money to rupiah again or pay it by credit card. So the
officer make an exception.
After receiving my explanation earlier, the officer asked us to face her
head officer in "priority counter" which lies between domestic and
international counter . Finally, with the notes we went to the place that is
referred to.
After repeating the explanation that had me pass before, long story short,
eventually the officers it was kind enough to cancel the fine from Wira’s
extra weight in the baggage. Thank God ... it turns out they also loved
Scouting so we were given a little leeway. And for the first time in the story
of this journey, Wira gets no provision unexpected fortune.
Alhamdulillah ....
Now,
we're ready to get new adventure in Taiwan...
